Naveen Krishna is one talented and frustrated actor who has been waiting desperately to join the league of ‘macho’ commercial heroes.Though he is remembered for some of his memorable and supporting performances, none of his roles or his films had elevated him to this much desired status.  So, Naveen himself had decided to come out with a story and screenplay that would bestow upon him this ‘much desired’ status. But he has failed miserably and looks more like a Rajnikanth clone in the film.'Dheemaku', to sum up, is nothing but the antics of the protagonist Balamurali Krishna (Naveen Krishna) a supposed-to-be-intelligent youngster and his war against a rich and influential woman.

The haughty woman does not like her daughter marrying the hero. How he fights it out with her, influences her and changes her mind forms the rest of the story. The story, to be honest, is old wine in a new bottle.Though shot stylishly, “Dheemaku’ bores the audience because of the ‘same old story’ minus substance.Naveen Krishna has done his best to carry the film on his shoulders.

He dances well though and shows his prowess in dialogue delivery. He surely would get appreciation for his performance here and there, but not on the whole.Dialogue writer Shankar Billamane also gets accolades for his fine writing.Mayuri Saini (‘Flora’ Saini) as the arrogant mother-in-law has given a good performance but the heroine, the debutante Pavani fails to impress.Rangayana Raghu and Sudha Belavadi are at ease with their respective roles.

Guest appearances by Jaggesh, Komal Kumar, Sharan and Bullet Prakash are enjoyable. So, Kannadigas once again get a stylish film without substance, after the recent 'Maadesha'.If you are bent on seeing the movie, go watch it just for the sake of Naveen's performance.
