What happens when remake expert D Rajendra Babu and remix expert Janardhan Maharshi come together? Naturally a film which is a rehash of old films, a hotch-potch of some of the most successful commercial films.'Bindaas' was a fine example for that, where some of the most successful films of Telugu like 'Pokiri', 'Dhana 52' and some others were made into one film. This week's release 'Bombaat' is an addition to this list of rehashes.'Bombaat' was supposed to be a new kind of cinema, particularly to 'Golden Star' Ganesh who wanted to get known as an action hero through this film.Though he has succeeded a bit in his efforts, it is really awkward to see a squirrel-like Ganesh beating an enoromous giant-like Mukesh Rishi.

Of course he gets accolades from his fans for that.(Fans are for that only!) On to the story.Shalini (Ramya), the daughter of the Commissioner of Police (once again Avinash!), is just back in Bangalore from France, where she was doing her MBA.And on the way to her house from the airport, she gets to have a glimpse of Anand (Ganesh) beating some terrorists. As in every film the heroine mistakes the hero to be ‘yet another of those street rowdies’.

This gets repeated, not just once, but twice. So, for Shalini, Ganesh is a goonda.Meanwhile, Shalini comes across a sadist (Adi Lokesh), brother of a powerful don, who wants to marry her at any cost. The Commissioner takes the help of Anand (little weird, isn't it?) to rescue her from the don.How Anand saves Shalini and what happens to the bad guys forms the rest of the story.

The main drawback of the film is its totally illogical plot. The writer-duo of D.Rajendra Babu and Janardhana Maharshi has failed to provide a convincing story and instead has mixed some of the elements from commercial hits like 'Aata', 'D' etc to name a few.The narration too lacks the necessary punch.Dialogues by M.

S.Ramesh are also unimpressive.Ganesh somehow manages the action scenes but there is nothing much notable about his performance in the film.Ramya has nothing much to do.Rahul Dev has a bit to do compared to the rest of the baddies like Mukesh Rishi, Adi Lokesh and Gurudutt.

Mano Murthy has given two hummable songs in the form of “Maatinalli Helalaarenu…” and “Maatinalli Heluteeni…” rendered by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal.Even these are a hotch-potch of his previous hits. All said and done, 'Bombaat' is unlikely to appeal even to Ganesh' hardcore fans. Why bother wasting your time on this?
