Anwar is a remake of the Malayalam movie by the same name starring Prithviraj, Prakashraj and Mamata Mohandas in the lead.
The Malayalam movie did not do well, but the producer is trying to cash on Prithviraj’s star value in Tamil Nadu.
Anwar’s songs have been a rage in Malayalam. Music is scored by Gopi Sundar and the sound track has 7 songs. The hit song ‘Kizhakku Pookkum’ earned Shreya Ghosal few awards, but would be interesting to see how the ‘mapillapattu’ is adapted to Tamil.
Anwar is directed by Amal Neerad and distributed by Red Carpet Movies Limited. The movie was made at a production budget of 5.2 crores.
