Directed by - B.Unnikrishnan Produced by - B.C.Joshi Music by - M.Jayachandran Casts - Jagathy Sreekumar, Ajmal Ameer, Innocent, Siddique, Saikumar, Jagadeesh, Suraaj Venjaramoodu, Vijayakumar, KPAC Lalitha, Sreelatha etc. Starring - Mohanlal, Kavya Madhavan ‘Madambi’ directed by B.Unnikrishnan (who had scripted many movies and directed ‘Smart City’), tells the story of Gopalakrishna Pillai, who lives in a village named Ilavattam.Gopalakrishna Pillai is a moneylender, but he is a moneylender with a difference.He lends money at very low interest-rates, but makes it a point to get back the money on the correct date.In case he doesn’t get back his money on the promised date, Gopalakrishna Pillai becomes an altogether different mind, hard-hearted and harsh.Gopalakrishna Pillai also runs a tuition centre, where he teaches Malayalam to young students.He wishes to instill in youngsters a love for Malayalam.Gopalakrishna Pillai also is a guy who has the tendency to fight injustice.Anyway, things take a new turn with the opening of a bank in the village.The bank, named Grand Bank, offers loans at low interest.The manager of the bank, a lady named Jayalakshmi, seems an enigmatic kind of character.All this leads to the development of the plot in ‘Madambi’, in which Mohanlal plays Gopalakrishna Pillai while Kavya Madhavan becomes Jayalakshmi.Ajmal Ameer (of ‘Anjathey’ fame) does a key role in the film.‘Madambi’ is produced under the banner of Surya Movies and is brought to the theatres by Vaishakha Release.
