Renamed Tamil M.A. to hit the screens on Oct 5

This seems to be the season of renaming. The tile of Tamil M.A.is changed following Porukki albeit for a different reason. When debutant director Ram announced that his film would have the title as Tamil M.

A., it surprised many, as it had English letters.Since Tamilnadu government is giving tax concession, nobody is willing to have English language in his or her movie title and hence Tamil M.A.came as a surprise.

However, in an after thought, the unit has decided to play it safe. The name is changed in the last minute as ‘Katrathu Tamil’ (meaning I learned Tamil). The new title, despite sounding less attractive compared with the previous one, fits more aptly to the film that deals with a man who feels proud to have studied Tamil.Another development with the film is that the release is postponed by one week. The film will hit the screens on October 5, instead of September 28, as previously announced.

It is worth recalling the sensation created by the movie last week. The cast and crew of the movie protested against Big FM, which procured the audio rights of the movie, to pressurize the company to release the CDs and cassettes in the market.Though the audio was launched by September 10, the CDs were not made available in the market till 20th.Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, director Ram, and hero Jeeva were among others who went on fasting protesting against the company on September21.Caught in the wrong foot, the company wasted no time in releasing the CDs and cassettes immediately.

PS: ‘Katrathu Tamil’ has an English rhyme as an important aspect in the script.
