Directed by - Priya V. Produced by - Raadan Media Works, UTV and Pyramid Saimira Music by - Yuvan Shankar Raja Casts - Sathyaraj, Prithviraj, Radhika, Sandhya, Manobala, Sripriya, Radha Ravi, ‘Viyatnam Veedu’ Sundaram Banner - Raadan Media Works, UTV and Pyramid Saimira Priya V, who made her debut with ‘Kanda Naal Muthalaay’ has now come out with another feel good movie.Multi starrer ‘Kannamoochi Enada’ has all ingredients to be a lighthearted comical entertainer to light up the festival season. The movie is a fun filled family drama interwoven with a love story.Prithviraj is a software architect working in Singapore. He is brought up by his uncle (Radha Ravi) after the sudden demise of his parents.
The uncle, a conservative Brahmin, could not digest Prithvi falling in love with a girl (Sandhya) belonging to a different caste. The conflict between the uncle and nephew widens and results in a split.Sandhya, a psychiatry student, conveys her love affair to her family living in Chennai. She gets Prithvi along with her to introduce him to her family.Sandhya’s father Sathyaraj is the police commissioner of Chennai and Radhika is her mother.
She has a sister and grandfather. The family leads a pleasant life, which gets disturbed by the entry of Prithvi, who could manage to steal everyone’s heart in the family. But he is not able do the same with the tough cop.The cop, however, could not reject the boy, as he could not hurt his daughter. So he plans to get rid of the boy through some tricky ideas.
The boy is ready for the challenge and the game of hide and seek starts. The game gets serious dimensions following some cruel game played by the disappointed uncle. The police officer then becomes serious and traps the boy, who is eventually ousted from the family.Radhika, a subdued housewife could not digest the way the boy is treated and raises her voice against her husband for the first time in her life. The rift results in a split.
Sandhya, meanwhile, is disappointed with Prithviaj for his lies. Her disenchantment with Prithvi puts their love in jeopardy. Now Sathyaraj wants to bring back Radhika while Prithviraj want to make amends for his faults and redeem his love. The game continues in a different manner. The turning point comes in the form of Sripriya and the story moves on to Ooty where the lady stays.
The rest of the movie shows how the family and the love are back in track.Priya V.has done well to present a comedy fair with feel good effect.Priya has created some hilarious scenes like Sathyaraj tries to send ‘arrows’ that could unearth the truth is hilarious.Likewise, Sathyaraj leaving for Ooty too provides a sidesplitting experience.
Though Sripriya dimension in the narrative looks as a bit of a drama, the character does take you by surprise. The dialogues by A.Sivakumar are among of the major plus points of the movie. However, the police commissioner behaving in such a funny manner during the last scenes looks bizarre.Prithviraj’s silence on his position too is not convincing.
Radha Ravi’s villainous activities are hard to digest. The instant love is quite cinematic. The climax is too lengthy to be effective.Priya must be lauded for conveying a subtle message regarding the way women are treated within the family. She has exposed the subtle ways with which the high society could confine the boundaries of a woman.
Sathyaraj has come out with flying colours with his awesome performance. He has handled the role that swings between his affection towards his daughter and aversion towards her lover.Prithviraj manages to impress despite the dominating performance by Sathyaraj. He looks charm and renders liveliness to the proceedings.Bubbly Sandhya looks lovely and enacts her part with ease.
Radhika is impressive while Manobala is effective.Sripriya springs in a surprise.Yuvan Shankar Raja has done it again. The songs are enjoyable. The remix version of ‘Anru Vanthathum Athe Nila’ is pleasing.
Cinematographer Preetha has marvelously captured the beauty of Singapoere and Ooty.Verdict: ‘Kannamoochi Enada’ is an entertainer that has comedy as its strong point.
