The film, which has been in the making for close to two years, has Sarathkumar playing a double role. The title of the big budget action extravaganza, directed by debutant G.N.Dinesh Kumar, has been inspired by the year the late MGR took charge as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. But, the filmmakers claim that the film has nothing to do with politics. The story is about a son trying to restore the honour of his father, who was falsely implicated in a case by vested interests. Sarathkumar plays both the roles. Farzana and Namitha are the heroines; the former plays a journalist and the other, an advocate. Vidyasagar scores the music. Jayasudha, Vivek, Radha Ravi and Vijayakumar play important roles in the movie.
