'Sawaal' The Movie Review
Directed by - B. Jaya Produced by - Venkateswara Reddy Thota Music by - Jessie Gift Casts - Bharath, Suhani,Sayaji Shinde, Dhandapani, Brahmanandam, Kovai Sarala, Ali & others. Banner - Sri Sairoopa Creations The one and only active lady director in Telugu, B.Jaya, is successful at this completely mass-oriented movie 'Sawaal. This is her fourth film after Chantigadu, Premikulu, Gundammagari Manavadu). The film’s crux is a drunken challenge (sawal) between a rich father of a beautiful girl and Tirupathi (Bharath), a riffraff, who sells movie tickets in the black.Though an orphan, Thirupathi has the backing of about ten thousand people from a city slum, where he lives.
Both the police and politicians are afraid of him.In order to get safe drinking water to the slum, he takes on a minister(Dandapani) and invites his wrath.A beautiful girl Keerthana(Suhani) teases our hero, which angers him.The girl’s father, a rich man challenge Thirupathi to win the love of his daughter. The richman is Narasimham (Sayaji Shinde), a police officer.
How Tirupathi gets Keerthana to fall for him, whether finally he marries her or not is the highlight of the movie.Meanwhile, baddie Vinayak(Vijayak), the minister's son wants to marry Keerthana. The minister too waits for the opportunity to kill Tirupathi. How the hero deals with all these problems and wins the challenge forms the movie.Bharath is at his best and fits with the character of the hero.
He is good at dancing but needs to develop a trade mark style for himself with the dancing. The dialogue delivery reveals his native slang and accent to some extent. Heroine Suhani is glamorous and looks very young. She appears to be a 14 year old girl. Her baby face fails to give her the look of a heroine.
But she is comfortable in the role and matches up with her performance.Director B.Jaya succeeds in giving almost equal importance to all the characters in the movie.Paruchuri Gopalakrishna appears as an MLA, rendering some dialogues in his own style. Story and screenplay is also by B.
Jaya. She completely focuses on the commercial elements such as stunts, songs and rhetoric dialogues meant for the masses.Going by the title 'Sawaal', the audience expects some big action. However, the point is that the challenge is a silly one.Action scenes are well canned and cinematography is good.
All the songs are picturised beautifully in locations in Karnataka.Music by Jesse Gift is a big asset to the film.Comedy, though is missing. The plight of this movie depends on the acceptance of the implausible story line and that appears difficult.
