I am afraid of casting couch: Bianca Desai

Bianca means soft and pure in Latin, says Bianca Desai. Jokes apart, she is the most sought after actress in Sandalwood today. Two of her recent films, 'Rocky' and 'Ghulama', have been well-received and her performance in the film well-appreciated.

She has two more films in hand,'Yogi' and 'Chellidaru sampigeya', and is all set to sign another couple of films. An exclusive interview with the Gujarathi beauty...

Q. Tell us about your films before entering Sandalwood?

A. Actually I had acted in a small role in Pawan Kalyan's 'Jalsa'. The director said I am the third lead to Pawan Kalyan and I shot for nearly 32 days. But when the film got released, I was nowhere. Even the junior artistes got better opportunity than me. I was really disappointed. After that I acted as a heroine in 'Nesthama' opposite Jai Akash. Later I got a chance in 'Rocky' and after that, I have been busy here.

Q. Any plans of acting in other language films, particularly Bollywood?

A. Right now there are no such plans. I am very much comfortable in Kannada films. Moreover, I am afraid of going to Bollywood. Because many of my friends who are based in Mumbai tell me about casting couch and all sorts of things about Bollywood. I have even stopped modelling because they take you for granted in modelling and ramp shows. So, I left it and I am into photo shoots only.

Q. What is the best compliment you have heard about your acting?

A. Well, till now everybody has appreciated my acting. Prajwal, my co-star in the film 'Ghulama', is more of an introvert. But he rang up the other day and complimented my acting. Till now, I haven't gone for any acting classes as such. So, I am very happy when people appreciate my acting.

Q. Bianca is more popular as a taekwando champion, rather than a heroine. What do you say?

A. (Laughs) My parents are in Sydney. My dad is wan excise officer there. So, I am here alone in India for the past seven years. Before that, I have been staying in hostel alone. They are always bothered about me. To be on the safer side, they made me join taekwando classes. I have become an expert now.

Q. Have you 'tried' Taekwando on someone?

A. Yes. A couple of years back, when I was in Mumbai, I was travelling by train. Someone tried to misbehave with me. That was when I kicked him. My friends even now tease me for that.

Q. Tell us about your future projects?

A. I have just finished 'Yogi' with Yogeesh and Shireen. Right now I am busy with 'Chellidaru Sampigeya' starring Prashanth. S. Narayan is directing the film. Talks are going on for a couple of films.
