‘Dandupalya’ in trouble again!

Srinivasaraju’s new film ‘Dandupalya’ is in trouble again. After some associations threatened to ban the film for Pooja Gandhi’s topless scenes, a writer from Mysore has accused director Srinivasaraju for stealing the story from his book.

Srinath, a journalist from Mysore who has penned a book called ‘Dandupalyada Hantakaru’ a decade ago has accused director Srinivasaraju who is also the story writer of the film for stealing the story of the film from his book without even consulting him. He has even lodged a complaint against the director in the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.

However, Srinivasaraju has refused the allegations as baseless and has said that he has formed the story on newspaper reports. ‘I have been following the Dandupalya gang’s crimes for a while and have based the story of my film on the basis of newspaper cuttings. I have even talked to some of the gang members and the police officers who arrested the gang men. Based on their versions I have formed a story of my own and it has nothing to do with the book’ says Srinivasaraju.

The KFCC talked with both the parties on Saturday. However, it could not arrive on a decision whether the film is really based on the book or not.

Meanwhile, Srinath has threatened to go to the court if he does not get justice in KFCC.
