Rs.10 crore for Vishnuvardhan memorial

Rs 10 crore and two acres of land would be allotted to build a memorial for Vishnuvardhan, said Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Wednesday. The Kannada superstar, fondly called "Sahasa Simha" by his fans, died on Wednesday, following a massive heart attack.

The CM added that the memorial would be built in consultation with Vishnuvardhan's family members. The land for the memorial would be given at Abhimani Studios (in south Bangalore where the cremation took place).

Vishnuvardhan's body was on display at the Jayanagar Cosmopolition Club grounds in Bangalore. The sudden demise of the superstar stunned his fans and some of his grief-stricken fans turned to violence. There were reports that the police resorted to lathicharge to control the angry mobs. Vishnuvardhan's wife Bharathi requested his fans to maintain calm and peace.
