Ambari
Directed by - A P Arjun Produced by - V Lakshmikanth, H S Suresh Music by - V Harikrishna Casts - Rangayana Raghu and others Starring - Yogeesh, Supritha The plot of ‘Ambari’, by debutant director A P Arjun, is a tried and tested one—a poor boy meets a rich girl and overcomes all odds to marry her. A great deal of effort is required to make an old story sound new, but the director did not find enough time to spare, it seems. And, it shows!
The story revolves around Dhanu (Yogi), a cobbler and his lady love, Saru (Supreetha), a simple college going girl. The young couple elopes on a bicycle (referred as Ambari here, which means ‘howda’) towards an unknown destination. What happens next forms the crux of the film.
The film is attractive with its freshness in the first half. But Arjun loses control over the script in the second half, as logic goes for a toss. It is the fine effort from the technicians that make the film bearable. Harikrishna’s music is just fantastic and Satya Hegde’s cinematography and Deepu S Kumar’s editing excellent. Yogi gets a tailor made role to perform in this movie. It seems, Supreetha has a long way to go when it come to acting. Rangayana Raghu is still in the hangover of 'Duniya' and other similar roles. The villain in the film, Petrol Prasanna, is irritating.
‘Ambari’ could have been made more interesting!
