Upendra's much awaited movie 'Buddhivanta' directed by Ramnath is the remake of 'Naan Avanillai'.The original film has two versions where in the first version was directed by none other than the legendary K Balachandar way back in 1974.The film had Gemini Ganeshan in the lead role.Recently a remake was made again in Tamil under the same name with Jeevan as hero.'Buddhivanta' has many elements common with the Tamil films.

Even the songs were lifted from the film.But 'Buddhivanta' cannot be dismissed as another remake as many changes have been made including the climax.The original concept revolves around a person who cheats five women and squanders away the money he got from them.He even murders them to get himself saved.But Upendra who is a big name in the Kannada industry cannot take a risk of becoming a murderer and a conman in a film.

So, Upendra has changed the entire climax by making everybody believe that he cheated women only to teach them a lesson.You many ask whether if he doesn't have any other better job to do apart from teaching women a lesson.No, not all.The entire film showcases Upendra and only Upendra using his brain and sometimes brawn to show how brilliant he is.'Buddhivanta's strong point is the punchy dialogues written by Upendra himself along with Ramnarayan and the picturisation of the songs.

Apart from the interesting courtroom scenes, the film is quite slow and boring.The film maintains a slow pace all along and sometimes the illogical consequences irritates you.It is one of the best performances of Upendra so far.Particularly his potrayal of Panchamrutha is the best in recent times and he wins all the accolades for his performance and dialogue delivery.Apart from that he is seen in different getups with different body language.

Pooja Gandhi, Lakshmi too delivers a good performance.Saloni, Brunda and Nethanya do their bit.Music director Vijay Anthony, who had worked in Jeevan's Tamil film has used the same tunes which are well picturised.'Chitranna' and 'Naana Avanalla' are the best of the lot.The remix song 'Ravi Vermana' from 'Sose Thanda Sowhbhagya' has been well shot.

Giri's camerawork is excellent.The film can be appreciated by only Upendra's fans.
