'Ghauttam': Family drama!
Genre - Love/Sentiment Directed by - Rajeev Prasad Produced by - Malini Subramaniam Music by - Guru Kiran Casts - Ananthnag, Kokila Mohan, Kousalya, Vinaya Prakash, Shivaram, Sudharani and others Starring - Prem, Sarah Prem's fans were said to be a little upset when he broke the promise of not acting in a remake film. But, after seeing his first remake 'Ghauttam', an intense family drama, they may well reverse their opinion of remakes.
'Ghauttam' is the story of a rich business magnate and his 'good for nothing' son Ghauttam. How Ghauttam, who loves to help people in distress, finally earns a good name in his family forms the crux of the story.
'Ghauttam' is a remake of Suresh Krishna's 'Aahaa'. Normally remake of films which are a decade-old, do not live up to expectations. But Rajeev Prasad, a protégé of Suresh Krishna, has handled the film very well.
The film maintains a fair degree of intensity in emotional sequences. The film has its share of dull moments and the film is quite predictable.
Prem is impressive in the title role. Supporting artistes such as Ananthnag, Sudharani, Ramesh Bhatt, Kokila Mohan, Kausalya, and Vinaya Prakash have given some notable performances. Sarah has nothing much to do.
Music director Gurukiran has given a couple of hummable songs. He scores full marks in re-recording. Sudhakar's camera-work is quite appreciable.
