Ghulama: The Cliche Fest!

Genre - Others

Directed by - Tushar Ranganath

Produced by - Ramu

Music by - Gurukiran

Starring - Prajwal Devaraj, Biyanka Desai, Sonu

‘Ghulama’, the first Kannada film to be released in 2009, has failed both commercially and aesthetically.

In 'Ghulama' , the screenplay is the main culprit. It is very confusing, boring and clichéd. The film tells the story of Anil (Prajwal Devaraj ) and his love for a model-cum-singer Priyanka (Biyanka Desai). Anil treads the rowdyism path knowingly for the sake of Priyanka. He eliminates the underworld king and emerges as the youngest don of Bangalore. Finally Priyanka makes him give up goondaism.

The film has nothing new to offer as scores of films on these lines have been released in the past 15 years. May be, Ranganath wanted to show that living the life of a rowdy is worthless. But he glorifies rowdyism in the process and resorts to the depiction of blood and gore to the maximum.

This is not the right kind of cinema for Prajwal Devaraj, indeed. Biyanka Desai is good in parts. Sonu gets a meaty role in this film and she does well.

Gurukiran's scores are horrible. It's impossible to decipher a single word from the cacophony of sounds that go by the name music.

Cameraman Shekhar Chandra has done his bit.

To put it in a nutshell, no harm in giving this film a miss!
