No doubt. 'Maharshi' is one of the worst films that the Kannada audience has watched this year. It’s a perfect combination of a bad storyline, extreme violence and an incompetent narration.
It seems director Krishna Maharshi, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, has just rehashed several Telugu commercial potboilers to make this film. It is crystal clear that he is totally unaware of the nativity element and audience tastes in Karnataka. That's why he has made his debut in Kannada with a horrible film.

'Maharshi' doesn't have a great story to boast of. It's the story of Maharshi, an innocent college student who becomes a rowdy under unknown circumstances. Scriptwriter Krishna Bramha engages your two and a half hours by telling how Maharshi becomes a rowdy. The narration of the film is loud and crude from the first sequence itself.

If that is not enough, there are some disgusting scenes like where a woman lecturer and a girl is chased by some rowdies to rape them in the college itself and the hero killing at least 20 people in the climax. Though the Censor board has given an 'A' certificate apart from chopping off many action sequences and muting off some vulgar dialogues, it could have banned the film in the audience’s interest.

Prashanth, who had shown some promise in his first film, overacts and overreacts in this film. Pooja Gandhi has nothing to do other than expose. Muni, Lokesh and Harish Roy shout crude dialogues throughout the film. Neither the film's photography nor music requires special mention.

Last but not the least, it is better to stay home and endure power cuts instead of watching such a film.
