Lal Jose to remake 'Neelathamara'
'Neelathamara', a film that launched Ambika, is being remade after 30 years. The film was written by reputed writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair and directed by noted poet Yousaf Ali Kechery in 1979. This is the first time that a Malayalam film is being officially remade, say sources.
Lal Jose, an admirer of the film from his school days, will direct the remake to be produced by Revathy Kala Mandir. Newcomer Archana will reprise Ambika's role.
Ambika went on to become one of the top actresses in south India and had been paired with almost all the superstars then.
At the pooja of the film held last week in Cochin, actors in the original, such as Ambika, Ravikumar and Sathar, took part.
