Mammootty re-elected channel head

Malayalam superstar Mammootty has been re-elected chairman of Malayalam Communications Limited at the AGM of the company held in Thiruvananthapuram. The company runs Kairali, the mouthpiece of the CPM in Kerala, and a bouquet of channels. John Brittas was re-elected the managing director of Kairali.

The company has announced a 5 per cent dividend for 2008-09. The company's turnover has jumped by 36 per cent to Rs. 47.86 crore during 2008-09; the turnover for 2007-08 was Rs. 35.21 crore.

Mammootty, whose fascination for new technologies is well known, has been one among the early birds who ventured into software business. Later, he became a TV producer in the late '90s.
