Mammootty conferred D-Litt

Actor Mammootty, director Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Mridangam maestro Umayalpuram Sivaraman were conferred honorary D Litt awards by the University of Kerala.

State Governor R S Gavai conferred the degree to the artistes. Vice-chancellor Dr. A. Jayakrishnan and state education minister M A Baby were among the dignitaries who were present at the occasion.

The citation read out by the VC described Mammootty as "the star of all stars". It also likened Mammootty's screen presence to that of Hindi filmstar Dileepkumar.

Last year, The Calicut University had honoured Mammootty with a doctorate.
