'Pazhassi Raja' postponed

The much awaited release of 'Pazhassi raja', a period film starring Mammootty, has been postponed. The film was originally supposed to hit cinemas on October 2. The film may be released on October 9 or 16, say sources.

The makers of the film want to raise the ticket charges by 50 per cent for the first three days and they require sanction from the State Government for this. The film will be released only after getting the sanction, said Sree Gokulam Movies manager G Harilal.

The period film on the warrior prince Pazhassi Raja would be the first Malayalam film to have a global release. The film has been dubbed into Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and will have an English subtitled version.
