Film on Resul Pookutty
Malayalam cinema has always been accused of realising their talent pretty late but one Malayalee who made waves internationally and got due recognition is Resul Pookutty. The technical genius has worked only on 1 Malayalam film in his entire career (‘Pazhassi Raja’) but Mollywood still loves him. He was last mentioned on Mollywood screens when director Renjith used a mimicry artist to play his resemblance in a satirical scenario about all the celebrations happening around his Oscar win in his film ‘Pranchiyettan And The Saint’, last year.
But now a more proper tribute comes to him from newcomer V.N. Pradeep, who is getting ready to make his debut directorial based on the life of Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty. According to the director Pookutty has already given a thumbs up to the project and the film titled ‘My Eighth Wonder’ will narrate the story of a boy from humble beginnings in a remote village who grows up and receives international accolades through his work. He said. “We had planned it as documentary,” the director added that he plans to make the film in a documentary style with some of Resul’s friends in the technical team.
