Santosh Sivan's next 'Ceylon'

It was said sometime back that Santosh Sivan would start his next directorial venture 'Ceylon' soon, as he was happy with the response to his last outing 'Urumi'. However, the cinematographer-director says he would start 'Ceylon' only after ensuring that 'Urumi' was released in other languages.

"I am at present busy releasing Urumi in other Indian languages. The Tamil version is ready and I am planning to release it in November, after all big Kollywood films hit the screens. I am eagerly looking forward for the response from Tamil audience."

'Urumi' is originally a Malayalam film starring Prabhu Deva, Prithviraj, Genelia and others in the lead roles. It is about the voyage of Vasco da Gama to India and the issues surrounding it. The movie was critically acclaimed and was selected for screening at various festivals.

Recently, it was selected to be screened at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival. This is the second time a Santhosh Sivan film is being featured at this film festival. In the year 2005, his 'Navarasa' was screened at the Busan International Film Festival, it is worth mentioning here
