`Silandhi’ Monica ready for more daring role!
Those who’ve watched the film ‘Silandhi’ must have realized that the heroine of the film, Monika, has come a long way since her ‘Azhagi’ and ‘Imsai Arasan...’ days. Monika, the naive teenager in ‘Azhagi’ and a supporting actress in ‘Imsai...’, has gone in for a complete make-over and looks radiant and ravishing in ‘Silandhi’.Her daring bedroom sequence in ‘Siandhi’ with newcomer Munna has become the talk of the town. The actress, meanwhile, loves all the attention she has got and is relishing every moment of it.
Following is a quick question-answer session with Monika:
•Do you believe that ‘Silandhi’ has got you the fame and publicity that was elusive in ‘Azhagi’ and ‘Imsai....’?
•Yes, of course! My switch-over to a glamourous role and the fact that I was playing a solo heroine for the first time could be cited as reasons for this.
•Would you be doing more glamourous role in your forthcoming movies as well?
•Certainly; I won’t hesitate to look sexy if the script demands so. Currently, I am doing a couple of films titled ‘Agarathi’ and ‘Aa Aaa Ee Eee’. In both these films, I do look glamourous; deciding to look glamourous doesn’t mean that I’d be taking off my clothes at the drop of the hat.
•Are you doing movies in other language(s) too?
•I have just completed shooting for a Singhalese language film ‘Rosakko Ker’, which is getting for an early release. To me, it was quite an unbelievable experience as I dubbed in my own voice in Singhalese language.
•Would you continue to accept offers to act in Singhalese films as well?
•Yes, I would love doing so; but right now, I don’t have any available dates to give to other language films. I have been flooded with many offers to act in Singhalese films after the preview show of ‘Rosakko Ker’. Due to date problems, I have been refusing those offers.
•Has ‘Silandhi’ brought about any refreshing change professionally to you?
•Why not; of course, it has! When director Aadhi narrated the story to me, I felt that I should definitely perform the role, despite the amount of glamour associated with the role. As a result, those who had been telling earlier that Monika is only fit for sober and weeping roles have now been forced to eat back their own words.
Let me proclaim to the whole world that hereafter, I will be looking as glamourous as anyone and would be doing roles that have scope for some ‘exposing’. After all, this is the age to do all these things, isn’t it?
