No ‘affair’ with Nayantara: Vishal
Vishal, who has acted in half-a-dozen films from ‘Chellamae’ to ‘Malaikkottai’, has the unique distinction: All his films were hits- moderate hits to super-hits. Excerpts from a recent tête-à-tête with the latest hunk on Tamil screen:
Q:What is the reason behind your ‘six-pack’ look nowadays?
A:I play a tough-looking cop in my next film ‘Sathyam’, for which I had to get this toned, six-pack abs look. I appear with this look in a duet “Challamae Chellamae” with Nayantara.
Q:Is there any special reason for your getting too close for comfort with Nayantara than you did with the heroines of your earlier films? The stills of the song appear as hot as they can get!
A:I feel it would be more appropriate if director Rajasekhar replied to this particular question. As far as I am concerned, all I can say is that Nayantara’s sexy look is part of the script and the scene jells with the film. When told about her role and costume, Nayantara agreed and has rendered excellent cooperation throughout the shooting. Other than her commitment, there isn’t any “special” reason as you suggest. Neither did we force Nayantara for this glamourous look.
Q:What about rumours linking you with Nayantara?
A:There are so many pressing and burning issues in this country at present. Does my “supposed” affair with Nayantara assume more significance than those things? It’s not an issue at all. Till now, I haven’t fallen in love with anyone. If I’m in love, I’ll be letting the whole world know it.
Q:It is said that these rumours about you are deliberately planted by an actor who is your peer and competitor?
A:I have absolutely no idea about these rumours and who could have "planted” them.
Q:When will we get to have a look at ‘Sathyam’?
A:‘Sathyam’, which has simultaneously been shot in Telugu as ‘Salute’, will be releasing on August 14. My brother Vikram Krishna, the producer, is busy with the post-production work of the Telugu version and has silently released the audio of the Telugu version. For music director Harris Jeyaraj, this will be his 25th film. All the songs have come out very nice indeed.
Q:What about your director Rajasekar?
A:Rajasekar is an extremely talented guy who knows what he is doing. He has worked under Suresh Krishna in his earlier films and has a lot of patience, which is a necessary trait in filmmaking. When Rajasekhar narrated the story for the first time in 2004, I had just had one release in ‘Chellamae’. I told him to watch my second tilm ‘Sandakozhi’ which had just been released and let me have the feedback. He watched the film and said he had decided that I’d be the hero for the story he had in mind. Since it was a role of a ‘tough cop’, I asked him to wait for some more time before I could says ‘yes’ to him. He waited and here we are: ready with the film and are waiting for its release.
Q:It appears that you have been highly impressed by Rajasekar’s work. Would you do another film with him?
A:Definitely... How soon it would happen would only be known once ‘Sathyam’ releases.
