Bala’s 'Avan Ivan' completed
When Bala, known for his long schedules, launched 'Avan Ivan' on January 25 last year he surprised everyone by saying that he will complete the film in record 90 days. But he took his time and has finally wrapped up the shooting only last week. ‘Avan Ivan’ is a comedy film written and directed by Bala, his fifth project after the critically acclaimed masterpieces ‘Sethu’,’Nanda’, ’Pithamagan’ and ‘Naan Kadavul’. The film stars Arya, Vishal Krishna, Janani Iyer, and Madhu Shalini in the lead roles. The film, produced by Kalpathi S. Agoram's AGS Entertainment, features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Arthur A. Wilson and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. The filming is set for an April 2011 theatrical release in. Bala’s earlier films had all been tragedy drama films dealing with serious and dark subjects. With ‘Avan Ivan’ he wishes to move away from such films and make a full-length light-hearted comedy film. He was working on its script in the months following ‘Nana Kadavul’ release, whilst declaring that it will be a double hero subject. Allegedly Bala came to this decision since his earlier films, despite receiving critical acclaim, garnered poor or average box office returns.
