‘Mother India’ in Tamil

Director Bharathiraja, relieved and happy at the B.O. performance of his ‘Bommalattam’, is planning to remake the Mehboob Khan classic, 'Mother India'.

The veteran, who brought about a revolution in Kollywood with his own brand of unconventional and realistic films, is already planning his next ventures. Sources close to him, on condition of anonymity, say that he plans to make a film on the lines of the Nargis-starrer ‘Mother India’, which was a trend-setter in the sixties.

The temperamental genius still wants to make his dream film, ‘Kutraparamparai’. Bharathiraja’s close friend, an NRI, who financed ‘Bommalattam’, has reportedly assured him that even if he were to recover only half the cost of ‘Bommalattam’, he would gladly sponsor the director’s next film as well.
