'Dalapathy' Vijay!

The title of Vijay's 51st film has been a matter of much discussion in Kollywood. According to our sources, Vijay has titled the film as 'Dalapathy'. As we know, 'Dalapathy' was the title of the Rajnikanth- Mammootty blockbuster, directed by Mani Ratnam. The film was released during Diwali in 1991 and is still remembered as a cult classic.

Our sources say, the Vijay flick will have no similarities with the Mani film. The original dealt with the strong bond of friendship between a gang leader (played by Mammotty) and his "Thalapathy" (Rajnikanth). The Vijay film promises to be a family entertainer with generous doses of songs, dances and fights. Asin will play the leading lady and Yuvan Shankar Raja is expected to score the tunes.

A worrying follow up to the title is that a section of Rajnikanth fans are upset with the re-use of this title and have plans to prevent it.
