HC stays release of 'Goa'

The Madras High Court stayed the release of 'Goa', produced by Soundarya Rajnikanth and directed by Venkat Prabhu. The interim injunction was granted on the civil suit filed by a businessman, who claimed that Ocher Studios, the production company owned by Soundarya, failed to return Rs 1.6 crore borrowed from him.

Varun Manian, managing director of a Chennai-based construction company, said that he has given Soundarya's company Rs 1.5 crore of which only Rs 20 lakh was returned by her company.

He added that Soundarya had promised to repay the amount in full at the time of release of 'Goa' and so, if the movie is released without settling his dues, irreparable loss would be incurred by him.
