Karthi help cops

When the Cyber Crime Wing of Tamil Nadu Police department decided to make a short film to create awareness on online frauds, the name that popped up on the officials' mind is Karthi Sivakumar, the hot and happening actor of Kollywood.

And when they approached him with the idea to be part of the initiative, the 'Paruthi Veeran' and 'Paiyaa' hero immediately gave his nod and acted in the short film, by taking time off from his busy shooting schedule.

"Online frauds are on a rise these days. People here get e-mails from foreign tricksters, who promise them huge amount of money if they are ready to pay a small amount initially. Believing their words, many Chennaiites are losing hard-earned money," says a police official.

He adds: "To create an awareness on the issue, we have roped in Karthi for the five-minute short film. It will be screened at the ongoing Tourism & Trade Fair on the Island Grounds. Besides Karthi, the movie will also have experts and police officials sharing their views."
