Uttar to Dakshin!!

From Kushbu to Simran to Namitha, the number of Bollywood sirens that had south India under their spell is mind-boggling. Some of them, like Kushbu and Namitha, have had temples constructed in their honour. It seems, the trend will continue, as more of them, from Tamanna to Sana Khan, are waiting in the wings to take over!

Kushbu

The stocky sizzler debuted in films as a child artiste in 'Thodi Si Bewafaii' (1980). She was one of the most popular actresses ever in the South, where her fans even made a temple with Kushboo as the deity. 'Kushboo Idli' and 'Kushboo Saree' stand testimony to the tremendous popularity the ever smiling siren enjoyed down South.

Simran

Simran Bagga, née Rishibala Naval, had Kollywood dancing to her tune from 1998 to 2004. At the peak of her career, the Punjabi stunner had commanded a salary of Rs 75 lakh. Making her debut with 'Tere Mere Sapne' (1996). The wonderful dancer who can do bharatanatyam and salsa with equal felicity took Kollywood by storm and went on to star in several super hits. She was referred to as 'Lady Superstar'!

Jyotika

Jyothika Sadanah Saravanan, born in Punjab, made her debut in films with 'Doli Saja Ke Rakhna' (2008), opposite Akshaye Khanna. The younger sister of Naghma, a leading superstar then, with the unmistakeable talent and refreshing screen persona, became one of the leading actresses down South and remained a youth icon till she took a bow from acting following her marriage to Suriya Saravanan.

Naghma

Naghma dominated Tamil filmdom before the advent of her statemate Simran. Though she tasted success with her debut Hindi film, 'Baaghi' (1990), the plump siren turned South and became a big star in no time. Her heroes ranged from the late NTR to Chiranjeevi and from Rajnikanth to Ajit.

Namrata Shirodkar

The younger sibling of Shilpa Shirodkar, who was Miss Idia in 1993, debuted in Bollywood with 'Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai' (1998). Her performance in 'Astitva' was widely appreciated. She acted in the Telugu film, 'Vamsee', opposite superstar Mahesh, whom she married later. In 2004, her role in 'Bride and Prejudice' came in for much praise.

The Mumbai bombshell, only 17-years of age, started out as a child artiste in films and she debuted as a heroine in Hindi opposite Himesh Reshammiya in 'Aap Ka Suroor'. The youngster with the stunning looks found stardom through the Telugu flick 'Desamurudu', opposite Allu Arjun. The confident teenager has been signed up to play the ultra glam role played by Nayantara in 'Billa' remake in Telugu.
