Tamil remake of '3 Idiots' on cards

'3 Idiots', directed by Rajkumar Hirani, is rewriting collection records all over India. The film, which surpassed the all-time B.O. records for an Indian film in just 10 days of its release, may soon be remade in Tamil and Telugu. Our sources say Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) is in an advanced stage of negotiations for the rights to remake the film.

GFC had earlier bought the remake rights of 'Munnabhai MBBS' from the same producer; they remade it in Tamil as 'Vasool Raja MBBS' (with Kamal Haasan in the lead) and as 'Shankar Dada MBBS ' (Chiranjeevi in the title role) in Telugu.

'3 Idiots' stars Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor. The film takes a humorous dig at the education sector in India and its pitfalls. In the remakes, Madhavan may reprise his role in the original.
