'Ghilli' (2004), directed by Dharani, has been one of the biggest blockbusters in Vijay's career. It was a remake of the Mahesh Babu superhit in Telugu, 'Okkadu'. Trisha played the female lead and Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi and Dhamu played imporant roles. Vidyasagar composed the super hit tunes.

'Madhurey'(2004), directed by Ramana Madhesh, had Vijay as a do-gooder and protector of the society. Sonia Agarwal, Pasupathy Rakshitha and Tejashree were also in the cast. The music was scored by Vidyasagar.

'Thirupaachi' (2005), directed by debutante Perarasu, was a racy entertainer. Trisha, Mallika, Benjamin, Pasupathy, Srinivasa Rao Kotta and Chhaya Singh formed the cast. The film's music is composed by Dhina. The film ran for 200 days consecutively and reportedly overtook 'Gilli'.

'Sachein' (2005), directed by John Mahendran, had Genelia, Bipasha Basu and Linda Arsenio co-starring Vijay. The film's music, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, was a hit. Bipasha Basu, with her skimpy costumes made quite an impression in a cameo. The film was a superhit, though it was released alng with Rajni-starrer 'Chandramukhi' and Kamal Haasan's 'Mumbai Express'.

'Sivakasi',directed by Perarasu, was a mass entertainer. The movie had Vijay pairing up with Asin. Prakash Raj, Ganja Karuppu, Chitti Babu, Lakshana, Geeta, Vaiyapuri, Sai and Perarasu himself, with Nayantara in an item number.

'Aadhi' (2006), directed by Ramana and produced by Vijay's parents, S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shoba Chandrasekhar, featured Vijay and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles. A remake of Telugu hit 'Athanokkade', 'Aadhi' became the biggest Vijay flop to date.

'Pokkiri' (2007), directed by Prabhu Deva, had Vijay and Asin in the lead. The film became a superhit and the streak of bad luck that haunted Vijay after the flop of 'Aadhi' came to an end. Prakash Raj, Nassar, Vadivelu, Brinda Parekh, and Napolean are the other important members of the cast. The film is a remake of the Mahesh Babu's 'Pokiri'.
