Ravi (Kalanjiyam), an orphan himself, leads a group of orphans into the world of crime. He sells narcotic substances and is hence called ‘Pottalam’ Ravi by his peers. His biggest minus point is that he has a weakness for women.

One night, when Ravi is fleeing from the cops, he sees Kanimozhi, a doctor (Sunitha Verma)injured in an accident. He decides to save her and she, in turn, falls in love with him. She announces her decision to marry him. Needless to say, her parents oppose her choice. They turn to a police officer for help in this regard. He tries to explain to Kanimozhi that Ravi isn’t the right choice for her. He substantiates his claim through the testimony of Sengudi (played by Asmitha), a close associate of Ravi who has been with him right from the time of being a child. Sengudi loves Ravi but he kills her once he gets to know that she is carrying his child. Despite the cop’s best efforts and Sengudi’s testimony, Kanimozhi refuses to change her mind and weds Ravi, who returns after serving a six-year-sentence in prison.

Kanimozhi believes that Ravi is a changed man. Days pass by with Kanimozhi trusting Ravi completely
