The Vijay-Prabhudeva team has come up with another winner in 'Villu', for sure. The corker of an entertainer has all the ingredients of a successful Vijay masala, presented much more stylishly than before. Truly, a nice way to celebrate Pongal for Vijay fans!

Don't look for a quality storyline and script. Vijay himself has warned us before that the story is as old as old as the hills. It is a rip off of the Bobby Deol starrer, 'Soldier' by Abbas Mastan made in the '80s. The typical revenge saga, wherein a son goes in search for the killers of his father and systematically eliminates them.

Major Saravanan (Vijay) is brutally murdered by terrorists and druglords, who brand him a terrorist and his dead body is left to rot in the open as villagers refuses to cremate him. How his son Pughal (Vijay) soldiers on to redeem the honour of his father and wreaks revenge on the criminals form the crux of the story.

The story is cliched and outdated, of course. But the film makes for compelling watching as Vijay, the one-man entertainment industry, delivers one of his best performances ever. As usual, he excels in songs, choreographed to a nicety by Prabhudeva and his team, and stunning action sequences. Nayantara, the female lead, is at her glamorous best and has never looked this ravishing! And she shares an amazing onscreen chemistry with Vijay that scorches the screen.

Other actors, including the inimitable Prakashraj, have nothing much to do in the film as it is a Vijay show all the way. Though Prabhudeva has not been able to replicate the quality of 'Pokkiri', the film is a "paisa vasool" one for the masses.
